Spike Lee Releases The Trailer for ‘Rodney King’ Movie

Netflix is set to release Spike Lee’s new Rodney King film on April 28th. The one-man show stars Roger Guenveur Smith as he takes viewers back a quarter of a century to the 1991 police beating of Mr. King and the 1992 Los Angeles riots. The movie explores the role King played in ending the rioting, thanks to an interview he gave on May 1, 1992, the third day of the disruptions.

The date for its release was selected to coincide with the upcoming 25th Anniversary of the state court acquittals of officer Stacey Koon and three other LAPD officers who were videotaped striking Rodney.
