A report surfaced this week that streaming service SoundCloud would only survive for 50 days before shutting down, following news last week that 40% of its employees had been laid-off. Chance the Rapper caught wind of the news, tweeting out to his 4 million followers on Thursday (Jul. 13) “I’m working on the SoundCloud thing.” On Friday (Jul. 14), Chance provided an update tweeting “Just had a very fruitful call with Alex Ljung,” referring to SoundCloud creator Alexander Ljung.
The streaming service, which played a major part in Chance’s career, confirmed shortly after that they’re here to stay and won’t shut down after all. How does the three-time Grammy Award-winner celebrate? By exclusively dropping a collaboration with Young Thug on SoundCloud.
